ALL EXISTING RULES
APPLY TO 2016 COMPETITION
  
1.  ENTRIES MUST BE RECEIVED BY:  March 20, 2016
2.  Contestant must remain in the same "level" for all Solos entered.  Possible levels           are:  Beginner, Competitive or Elite.
3.  Dancers may not compete against themselves in Solo categories
4.  TIME LIMITS:  Solos (3 minutes), D/T (3 minutes)
      Small Group (3 minutes)
      Large Group (3 minutes)
      Super Group/Line  (4 minutes)
      Production  (8 minutes)
5.  Music for talent and modeling categories should be submitted on a CD.  All CDs 
     must be properly labeled with name of contestant, music title, studio and contestant
     number.  Please be sure to submit all music 10 minutes prior to performance time.
     KINDLY HAVE A BACKUP CD AVAILABLE IN CASE OF MALFUNCTION.
6.  ALL AGES ARE CALCULATED AS OF DATE OF COMPETITION.  Disputes must 
      be addressed in writing as of one half hour of the category with name of contestant
      in question.
7.  RELEASE FORMS:   Each teacher, parent/contestant must sign the release form
      located on the third page of the application.  It must be received along with all               application pages and fees by the deadline date.
8.  TALENT CATEGORIES: may contain no more than 3 acro/gym tricks.  Any talent           category other than an actual ACRO/GYM category will receive a 3 point                         deduction for the use of more than 3 acro/gym tricks.
      
      ACRO/GYM:  Acro/Gym technique.   PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN MATS!
      BALLET:  Must contain controlled movements and classical technique.
      BATON:  Must contain twirling and choreography.
      CHARACTER:  Must portray a specific identifiable character.
      CHEERLEADING:  Cheering, leaps, jumps, precision.
      CLOGGING:  Clogging technique.
      CONTEMPORARY:  Technique incorporating jazz and modern technique.
      FOLKLORIC:  Ethnic dance technique such as Hawaiian, Celtic, Polka, etc.
      HIP HOP:  Hip hop technique.
      JAZZ:  Use of jazz technique.
      LYRICAL:  Interpretive dance with ballet or jazz technique.
      MODERN:  Contemporary/Modern style with balance and extensions.
      MUSICAL THEATRE:  Broadway style incorporating character, dance and                       appropriate costuming.
      OPEN:  Category which may serve as a qualifying category for an "award"                       contender.  Anything goes!
      POINTE:  Classical ballet technique on pointe.
      SONG & DANCE:  CD may not contain a lead voice.
      TAP:  Must contain tap technique.

IMPROVISATION CATEGORY:  perhaps the most fun of the entire competition.  Anyone qualifies and it can be used as a qualifying entry for those who need ONE MORE CATEGORY to make them eligible for the "SPOTLIGHT" soloist award.  A CD is randomly selected.  The entry gets to hear a few seconds of the music and then must make up a routine lasting one minute.  A prop of the dancer's choice may be used.  FUN!  FUN!  FUN!

9.  All contestants give their permission to PRECISION TALENT AND MODELING COMPETITION to use their photos and videos in advertising the competition.

10.  GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP is expected at all times.  Any unsportsman-like conduct by a contestant, teacher or parent will be grounds for immediate disqualification.

11.  No teacher may compete in a student category.

12.  NO USE OF FIRE, SWORDS, CHAINS, KNIVES, WHIPS, ETC.  Any choreography, costuming or music considered inappropriate for family viewing will be considered for adjudication only.

13.  Score sheets will be available after the competition and award presentation, or may be mailed to the teachers in a timely fashion.

14.  Coaching during a performance is prohibited.

15.  Precision Talent and Modeling Competition reserves the right to accept or reject applications.

16.  Modeling time limit:  1 to 2 minutes on the floor.  Public Speaking is :30 seconds.

17.  JUDGE'S DECISIONS ARE FINAL AND NOT SUBJECT TO DEBATE.

BALLROOM CATEGORY RULES

18.  All BALLROOM entries compete in amateur status.

19.  Ballroom dancers must exhibit technique and form which is identified with the category of ballroom dance in which they are competing.

20.  Costuming should reflect the mood of the ballroom category in which the couple is entered.

21.  All couples must be boy/girl.
